What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles. Derived from the botulinum toxin, it works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, preventing them from contracting and thereby smoothing the skin’s surface.

Post-Treatment Care and Results
Following your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment, you may experience mild redness or swelling, which typically subsides quickly. It’s important to avoid rubbing the treated areas and to follow all aftercare instructions provided by our team. Most patients begin to see results within 24 to 48 hours, with full effects visible in about two weeks. Not to lie down or bend over for the 1st 4 hours after being injected. Also that we recommend a 2 week follow up be scheduled before leaving your appointment.
Why Choose Aspire for BOTOX Cosmetic
BOTOX is not simply a matter of placing a set number of units into a wrinkle. Aspire approaches treatment by mapping how the forehead, glabella, brows, and eye area work together so softening one muscle group does not create heaviness or an unnatural expression. That treatment-planning emphasis is especially important for patients who want visible smoothing while still looking like themselves. Aspire also treats neuromodulator care as an ongoing relationship rather than a one-time wrinkle fix. Dose and placement can be refined over time as facial movement, aging patterns, and aesthetic goals change, with a deliberately conservative approach that favors natural expression over an overtreated look.
1. Specific provider / medical-director expertise
Wei Jiang, RN, is Aspire’s co-founder and aesthetic nurse injector and has worked as a registered nurse in New York since 2004. Her stated specialties include BOTOX, dermal fillers, and advanced skin rejuvenation. Aspire also has cosmetic nurse injectors, a PA-C, and medical director Dr. Eugene J. Liu, MD, providing a medically supervised setting for neuromodulator treatment.
2. What concerns it treats
Best suited to dynamic expression lines caused by repeated muscle movement, including glabellar “11” lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and other movement-related facial creases selected by the injector. It may also be used to refine facial balance when muscle activity contributes to a heavy or tense appearance.
3. Exact treatment areas
Common cosmetic areas include the glabella, forehead, lateral eye area, and selected lower-face muscles when clinically appropriate. Treatment points should be chosen from facial movement and anatomy rather than from a standard injection map.
4. Ideal candidate / who should avoid it
A good candidate is an adult seeking temporary softening of dynamic wrinkles and willing to maintain results periodically. Treatment should be postponed or avoided in patients with infection at the injection site, certain neuromuscular disorders, known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin products, or during pregnancy/breastfeeding unless their treating clinician advises otherwise.
5. What actually happens during treatment
The injector observes the face at rest and in motion, marks a pattern based on muscle strength and symmetry, then places small amounts of BOTOX with a fine needle. The injections themselves usually take only minutes. A two-week follow-up allows the result to be assessed after the neuromodulator has fully settled.
6. Number and frequency of treatments
Most patients treat every 3-4 months, although strong muscle activity, dose, area treated, and individual metabolism can shorten or extend that interval. New patients may benefit from a conservative first treatment followed by the planned two-week review rather than trying to achieve the maximum effect in one visit.
7. When results start and peak
Early softening can begin within several days. The most reliable time to judge the finished result is around 10-14 days, when muscle relaxation is more complete and any minor asymmetry can be evaluated.
8. How long results last
Cosmetic effects are temporary and commonly last about 3-4 months. With repeat treatment, some patients find that the interval between visits becomes easier to predict, but BOTOX does not permanently weaken facial muscles.
9. Downtime and aftercare
Small bumps, redness, or pinpoint bruising can occur immediately after injection and usually fade quickly. Follow Aspire’s existing aftercare: do not rub or massage treated areas, remain upright for about four hours, avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat for the rest of the day, and return for the scheduled two-week assessment.
10. Side effects / safety
Possible effects include bruising, headache, temporary asymmetry, eyelid or brow heaviness, dry eye, or unintended weakness of a nearby muscle. Rare systemic effects are possible with botulinum toxin products. Careful placement, appropriate dosing, and a medical history review are central to safe treatment.
11. What it can realistically not accomplish
BOTOX will not replace lost facial volume, erase etched-in lines instantly, tighten loose skin, correct brown spots, or resurface rough texture. Static lines that remain visible when the face is completely relaxed may need filler, resurfacing, microneedling, or collagen-stimulating treatment in addition to muscle relaxation.
12. Treatment vs. closest alternatives
BOTOX vs. Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau: all four are botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators, but formulations, diffusion characteristics, unit dosing, and individual response differ. BOTOX has the longest cosmetic track record and broad brand recognition; the best choice is the product that fits the patient’s anatomy, prior response, and treatment goals rather than assuming one toxin is universally superior.
13. Combination treatments
BOTOX can pair well with hyaluronic acid filler when both muscle-driven wrinkles and volume loss are present; with microneedling, Morpheus8, or laser resurfacing for etched texture; and with IPL or pigment treatment when discoloration is a separate concern. Staging treatments lets each modality address a different layer of facial aging.
